HWGTA Skills Bootcamps

HWGTA, working in collaboration with Worcestershire County Council and the Department for Education, are offering the following Skills Bootcamps to local employers and individuals.

At a glance

Our Skills Bootcamps are part of the Government’s Lifetime Skills Guarantee and Plan for Jobs and provide an intensive short course (no longer than 16 weeks) that equips delegates with the specialist skills, knowledge and confidence needed for a career in the engineering and manufacturing sectors. They have been designed to give individuals the opportunity to gain skills for themselves and fast-track them to an interview with a local employer, or to gain promotion or increased responsibilities with their existing employer. The courses are open to adults, including those already employed, self-employed or not in work and will result in a recognised qualification.

BENEFITS OF SKILLS BOOTCAMPS

There is no cost to employers who recruit individuals who have previously completed a Skills Bootcamp.

Employers contribute to the cost of training if they want to use Skills Bootcamps to train their existing employees. Large employers contribute 30% of the cost, and small or medium employers (SMEs) contribute 10%.

Existing employees will need time to study and attend training, which differs depending on the course chosen.

Employers must offer an opportunity for increased duties or responsibilities following the Skills Bootcamp training.

BIT is often associated with lean manufacturing and approaches such as Kaizen, 5S and value stream mapping and enable an organisation to operate more efficiently and profitably. These techniques can be applied to any organisation that uses processes and procedures to operate, they are not limited to the engineering sector.

Understanding these techniques holds great value with employers in Worcestershire and further afield. This course represents a fantastic opportunity to upskill and change your career direction.
