How much does an Apprenticeship cost?

Nothing! Apprenticeships are fully funded by the Government and Apprentice Employer so there is no cost to the learner whatsoever.

What will my child earn?

Apprentices are employed by their company and so will be entitled to holidays and earn at least the minimum wage in line with the current National Minimum Wage scale. Some Employers choose to pay above minimum wage however this is completely at their discretion.

How do you match Apprentices’ with Employers?

All prospective Apprentices will attend an Initial Assessment with us to determine their level of prior knowledge and to get a feel for how they may fit in a workplace. Employers are sent details of candidates and will interview those of interest. Don’t worry, we can support with interview techniques for those new or returning to the world of work.

What about College and University?

Apprenticeships give learners the opportunity to complete nationally recognised qualifications whilst employed and developing their skills in the workplace. Whilst a purely academic route suits many individuals and areas of study, Apprentices can start their career with hands-on experience in a structured learning environment, whilst avoiding student debt. Opportunities are available to achieve further qualifications up to Level 7 (Equivalent to Masters Degree) through the Apprenticeship programme. Many successful business leaders began their careers as Apprentices!

What support will my child receive at HWGTA?

HWGTA prides itself in offering a safe and enjoyable learning environment for our learners. Each learner will have a nominated training officer who visits them in the workplace to assess their work and provide support throughout their Apprenticeship. We have a dedicated safeguarding team as well as wellbeing champions and first aiders. All training staff are well qualified and regularly assessed to deliver in their field of expertise.
