This practical one-day workshop helps learners understand the differences between coaching and mentoring and how each approach can be used effectively in the workplace.
What is Coaching? Coaching is about helping an individual find their own solutions through questioning, reflection and structured conversations.
Example: A team leader coaching a member of staff to improve their confidence when leading meetings by asking thought-provoking questions and encouraging them to develop their own action plan.
What is Mentoring? Mentoring involves sharing knowledge, experience and guidance to support someone’s development.
Example: An experienced employee mentoring an apprentice, graduate or new starter by sharing workplace knowledge, offering advice and helping them settle into their role.
