Who is this course aimed at?
The course is designed as a "hands on" approach to these headings and the theory will be kept to a minimum. Examples from the Candidates’ Company will be used to demonstrate/ emphasise the particular points raised and it is intended to use practical examples where possible, thereby making the points more relevant to the Delegates.
Do you need previous experience or qualifications to attend this course?
No previous knowledge of this welding process is necessary, as full back up and support is given by the instructor. This is a practical based course, carrying out exercises on real machinery, therefore the delegates are recommended to wear overalls and safety boots.
Safe use of equipment • The basic principles of manual metal arc welding • Equipment assembly, including preliminary adjustments • Practical exercises to include Outside Corner, Lap and Tee Fillet Joints • Welding technique (Positional)
On completion of the course, the individual should be able to: • Use equipment in a safe manner • Choose appropriate consumables and set equipment conditions • Produce welds using correct techniques • Specify corrective action when faults occur • Show the appropriate knowledge, skills and attitude for the effective performance of specified tasks
Weld specimens will be assessed by visual examination. The instructor will provide feedback and any corrective action that might be necessary will be offered.
