Who is this course aimed at?
This one day course is for those who wish to explore complex problems through a range of advanced and detailed problem solving and decision making techniques. These advanced techniques can be aligned against business, organisation, leisure or personal problems to produce practical and often surprising solutions. Dates provided on request.
Do you need previous experience or qualifications to attend this course?
We strongly recommend that you have completed the Problem Solving and Continuous Improvement course before attending this advanced course.
The course builds upon the foundation of the HGTA Problem Solving course, and knowledge of this course is beneficial though not essential as the basic techniques will be refreshed before embarking on the exploration of the more in-depth methods. Pragmatic and Organic methods of problem solving will be compared and practiced. The course will consider Heuristics and their limitations through to the often complex methodology of Synetics. A recent Fortune 500 list put Problem Solving as the second most vital ability of leaders after Communication. This course is for any person who needs to find realistic solutions to difficult and multi-faceted problems. The course is very practical with much practicing of the techniques performed in the context of small groups. The candidate who leaves this course will not only know the techniques but will also have practiced them to have a firm grasp of their efficiency.
Training Outcomes - The training will cover the following areas: • An overview of the basic problem solving and decision making methods • A consideration of the logical and the organic techniques • Heuristics and their benefits and limitations • Synetics and how this often complex formulation can be broken up to give potent solutions to complex problems and decisions • Practical workshop with trial problems to demonstrate the efficiency of the techniques
